“Every man has his secret sorrows which the world knows not; and often times we call a man cold when he is only sad.” ― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Man With Pain
Being an empath comes with a price. The price of feeling too much sometimes. As writing is the escape to a writer, here comes a tale of the ‘Man With A Pain”.
I was having a fine evening, a tired walk back home from work. As I was lost in my imaginary world, I saw a reality that hit me hard enough to write a blog. I was getting out of the metro station, as I saw a man with a humped back that was not curved because of the heavy bag it was carrying, but because of all the responsibilities he carried all through his life. I saw his face. Frowned. More like grumpy. Eyes were kind of scary. May be he uses them to shrug people off. but all I could see was the pain that was heavier than the bag. He took little steps, as he clearly had trouble walking properly. I couldn’t hold back my tears, seeing him suffer in silence. How long has he been suffering? Does he have anyone to talk to? Does anyone cares for him? So many questions, to which I will never have answers for.
Yet, I would like to believe he is not as lonely as he looked. I hope he is not in pain or living a life in melancholy. I prayed for him while I choked up. I prayed that some of his worries are taken away and he gets happiness instead. Or may be it is all in my head, assuming that a stranger I just saw has a terrible life! May be it is my way of feeling better that many people are suffering alone, together. Or may be a lonely soul can detect another, feel the pain and share a story to let it all out!
We may never know, but what we can do is to try and let people be, talk to them nicely and stay kind for as long as possible. Because for all I know, if a stranger came up to me and asked me if I was okay, I would shrug them off, and if they don’t leave and stay to talk, I might cry. Not because I may not be okay, but how amazing it feels when you see an unknown being seeing through you instead of just passing by!
See through. If you do, be kind.
Namaste.
